VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The freshman coordinator(s) is expected to recruit and help set up freshman parents at every Varsity HOME game to sell media guides, merchandise, and raffle tickets. Also communicate and help coordinate the Freshman Team dinner(s). The coordinator is also responsible for communicating to the freshman parents any news and updates from DEFA. This is an excellent opportunity for parents who want to get involved with the DEFA program and meet other parents, families of upper classmen in the Downingtown East Football Program..

Communicate to the senior parents and DEFA. Connection point about senior-specific events, (Senior Night, Senior Picnic) and provide information and bring back any questions and suggestions to the board.

Every spring, DEFA hosts a Fan Fest for alumni, current and rising family members and community members that support the Downingtown East football team. This committee supports the chairperson to deliver an outstanding fundraiser and night out for the community.

Solicit local businesses for Fan Fest, media guide, Gold Card and other opportunities.

Coordinate Dine & Donate at local restaurants (those that support the team ideally)

Every August, the football teams (freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors) sell Gold Cards (discount cards) to community members. We'll need drivers for lower classmen, along with other volunteers to help achieve the goal of the day.

In July, Team Camp consists of a team trip, and then 3 days of hosting other teams. DEFA provides morning & afternoon meals for ALL players. Join this committee to help plan food and volunteer your time during this memorable week.

Official team photos take place the last day of Team Camp in July. Assist with player line-up, names, and collection of order forms.Set up tables for lunch immediately following practice and before pictures. Players check their names for spelling & document Freshman jersey numbers. Rita's Water Ice Truck immdediately following pictures.

A tradition at Downingtown East Football is our team dinners. The night before every football game (home or away), the families of the Downingtown East Football program host the players and coaches for a "FAMILY" dinner. This committee requires two representatives from each class to coordinate the food and volunteers to serve the the team. Every dinner is a great way to get to know the players without their helmets, and to know the parents you sit with in the stands.

Pick-up ice and water from Lionville Beverage. Fill & deliver coolers, Gatorade Bars and Powerade before all games. You need to be at the Cafeteria around 315 and set-up coolers near the back door of the cafeteria. You will remain and take any leftover bars and one empty coller with you. Collect coolers post-game and transfer them to next person. You will need to be able to fit two large sideline coolers in your car to transport so an SUV/Van/Truck is necessary.

Seniors will be recognized on September 27, 2024. We celebrate with a special ceremony before the game. Will need coordination for preparation before the game, and during the time where the seniors walk onto the field with their family.

During homecoming week (week of September 30), we will host a PowderPuff game at the high school. We'll need someone to help coordinate the evening's events including a donation drive for Cradles to Crayons and treats.
